A Dirge and A Bridal Song by Percy Bysshe Shelley - 760 Words

Percy Bysshe Shelley is known as the greatest poet of the second generation of romantics. He wrote great poems in his career like â€Å"A Bridal Song† and â€Å"A Dirge†. These two poems he is most famous for writing. He influenced the romanticism era dramatically through his writing and poetry like the two poems listed above and even though critics had something to say about it he was always ready to face the criticism. My author is Percy Bysshe Shelley â€Å"He was born in Suxxex England† and â€Å"he attended the university of oxford in 1810† (Constantakis 3). Percy Bysshe Shelley was born on August 4,1792 and died on July 8, 1822. â€Å"He formed a theory of nonviolent resistance to oppression and was acknowledged as an inspiration by ghandi, ever since he developed his political ideas in poetic form† (Constantakis 3). â€Å"Shelley is recognized as one of the greatest poets of the second generation of romantics in the early 19th century due to poems like â€Å"A Bridal Song† and â€Å"The Dirge† (Constantakis 2). â€Å"Percy Bysshe Shelley is often thought of today primarily as a poet he is also an important figure in the history of the democratization of western Europe and the development of socialism.† (Constantakis 3) â€Å"Romanticisms essential spirit was one of revolt against an established order of things-against precise rules, laws, dogmas, and formulas that characterized Classicism in general and late18th-century Neoclassicism in particular.
